Peace For Parents: Signs and Symptoms of Abuse
Date: 12/11/2012
Time: 6-7 p.m.

Our Lady of Peace presents Peace for Parents, a series of free seminars for parents with school-age children, from elementary to high school, on topics you may face each day. These hour-long topics will include parenting discussion and a time for questions and answers. All are welcome.
Learn what to look for when a teen is using substances. Learn the difference between substance use, substance abuse and substance dependence. Behavior changes, relationship problems and mood swings are all signs and symptoms of substance use and/or mental health problems. Addiction affects the entire family. Family relationships and roles change resulting in blocked communication. Often the first step is to become aware of the signs and symptoms of substance use.
The seminar is presented by Henry Fuqua, a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor who has worked in the field for 17 years. He currently provides substance abuse services for adolescents at Our Lady of Peace.
To register for this free seminar, please call Lisa Prewitt at 502.214.0522.
Also, mark your calendar for other Peace For Parents Seminars in the month of December. All seminars are held at the Old Board of Education location in Buckner.
