Jewish Hospital Physician Speaks at China Heart Congress
Louisville, Ky. –Jiapeng Huang, MD, PhD, FASE, director of Anesthesia at Jewish Hospital, a part of KentuckyOne Health, was selected to present groundbreaking advancements in cardiac practice at an international medical forum this month.
The China Heart Congress, the largest cardiovascular conference in the Asia-Pacific region, drew more than 8,000 participants from China and around the world. Dr. Huang represented Jewish Hospital as a senior member of the International Forum of Cardiovascular Anesthesia (IFCA). He is a founding member of International Academy of Chinese Anesthesiologists and vice chairman of the Cardio-thoracic and Vascular Committee at Chinese American Society of Anesthesiology. Nationally, Dr. Huang also serves as the intraoperative representative for the American Society of Echocardiography.
The theme for this year’s congress, “Healthy Heart - Better Life: Prevention, Translation and Cooperation,” highlighted collaborative medicine. Dr. Huang participated as a featured faculty member at the meeting and presented on the topic of Transesophageal Echocardiography to Assist Decision Making for Mitral Valve Surgeries. He shared state-of-the-art clinical innovations and his expertise at Jewish Hospital, a world-renowned cardiac center and discussed some of the hottest topics in cardiac care with colleagues from across the globe.
“This kind of communication and exchange of information with physicians in China is very beneficial to both parties,” Dr. Huang said. “Chinese colleagues benefit from our advanced technology and concepts. We can also learn how they perform 10,000 cardiac surgeries annually in one center with limited resources. We look forward to collaborating with Chinese physicians on research, education and clinical work in the future.”
The event took place from August 9-12 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, China, right next to the famous 2008 Beijing Olympic Park.
