Frazier Rehab Patients and Staff “Paws” to Celebrate Madison’s Birthday
Frazier Rehab Institute, part of KentuckyOne Health, will celebrate the ninth birthday of Madison, the facility’s first therapy dog. Madison joined the staff at Frazier Rehab Institute in August of 2007. She is a golden retriever who was donated to Frazier Rehab and her care supported by a grant from the IAMS Dog Food Corporation and donations to the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation. She knows well over 40 different commands from the typical sit, stay to opening and retrieving items from the refrigerator, as well as opening and closing doors.
Madison will be joined by her pal Charlie, a facility dog-in-training who will celebrate his first birthday on Saturday, April 13th. He came to Frazier Rehab last July and was donated by DaeShars Designer Doodles in Deer Park, Washington. He has already spent many days at Frazier Rehab learning the ropes from Madison. He has another year of training before it will be determined if he will graduate as a therapy dog and be placed at Frazier Rehab.
