Governor Steve Beshear will be joined by former Lieutenant Governor Steve Henry and his wife, Heather French Henry, to kick off free cancer screening opportunities available from KentuckyOne Health at the state fair.

Kentucky has the highest death rate from cancer of any state in the nation.  As part of KentuckyOne Health’s ongoing efforts to help Kentuckians lead healthier lives, the state’s largest health system will offer a variety of free cancer screening opportunities throughout the Kentucky State Fair August 15-25, 2013.

Free screenings will be available from the Kentucky Prostate Cancer Coalition, a nonprofit organization led by Henry. In addition, screenings for oral, head and neck cancers will be available, along with the James Graham Brown Mobile Mammography Unit and Kentucky Cancer Program.
