Current evidence suggests that adults with aphasia present with underlying cognitive deficits that contribute to their linguistic and communicative impairments. In recent years,aphasiologists have suggested that a comprehensive evaluation should include cognitive tasks as well as traditional linguistic and discourse-level tasks to accurately diagnose deficits present in individuals with aphasia. Further, cognitive abilities should be considered in all aspects of treatment planning.

This workshop will prepare the clinician in the audience to better diagnose and manage cognitive-linguistic deficits in adults with aphasia.
