Peace for Parents: Drug Use and The Brain
Date: 12/18/2012
Time: 6-7 p.m.

Our Lady of Peace presents Peace for Parents, a series of free seminars for parents with school-age children, from elementary to high school, on topics you may face each day. These hour-long topics will include parenting discussion and a time for questions and answers. All are welcome.
A young person’s brain is still developing and body is still growing. Drinking alcohol and drug use can cause learning problems or lead to addiction. Learn how substance use effects the brain’s reward pathway and increases mental obsessions and emotional compulsion to use more and more. Also learn how the brain heals when teens stop using drugs and alcohol.
The seminar is presented by Henry Fuqua, a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor who has worked in the field for 17 years. He currently provides substance abuse services for adolescents at Our Lady of Peace.
