WHAT: Announcing a groundbreaking treatment for advanced heart failure patients to avoid or
delay transplant. The “recovery protocol” has lead to the removal of left ventricular
assist devices (LVADs) in patients over the past 18 months. Other centers in the
United States plan to follow the life extending “recovery protocol.”
