Our Lady of Peace Presents Free Seminar on Childhood Behavior Problems
Louisville, Ky.—Parenting, teaching or counseling a child with challenging behaviors can be difficult, and the Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace, part of KentuckyOne Health, wants to help.
On Tuesday, November 27, 2012, the Center will host a free seminar entitled “Childhood Behavior Problems: Strategies to assist parents in overcoming difficult behaviors in the home,” as part of Peace for Parents, a free seminar series for parents, teachers and counselors working with school-age children. The seminar will take place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, 1850 Bluegrass Avenue in Louisville.
Kim Dwyer-Moore, a board certified behavior analyst with Our Lady of Peace, will lead the seminar, which will provide attendees with various strategies to manage difficult behaviors and include an interactive discussion and a question and answer period.
“Our goal with this seminar is to give parents tools and strategies they can use every day to overcome their child’s challenging behaviors,” said Dwyer-Moore. “Parenting isn’t easy, but we try to offer our expertise to help families navigate areas of concern.”
Interested individuals are encouraged to register in advance. Registration is free and can be done by calling (502) 479-4495.
“We hope the Peace for Parents series will help educate parents and guide them through some common challenges,” said Jennifer Nolan, president and CEO, Our Lady of Peace. “The program was so well received last year, we knew it was a valuable service that we should continue to provide for our community.”
The final seminar in the 2012 Peace for Parents series will be held on December 4, 2012 at Jewish Hospital Medical Center Northeast. The topic of discussion will be the treatment of children and adolescent mental health issues.
