Saint Joseph Jessamine Treats 100,000th Emergency Department Patient
Louisville, Ky. – The Saint Joseph Jessamine Emergency Department, part of KentuckyOne Health, treated its 100,000th patient this week, marking a major milestone several months before the facility’s fourth anniversary.
Saint Joseph Jessamine has seen some robust years since its opening in January 2008, treating an average of 50 patients daily, providing quality emergent care for residents of Jessamine County.
"Reaching this milestone so early in our facility’s history is a testament to the need we’re fulfilling in Jessamine County," said Shelley Neal, vice president of ambulatory care, KentuckyOne Health.
While the stand-alone facility has no inpatient beds, it does offer 24-hour access to x-rays and labs, providing quality, emergent care without the drive to Lexington. The facility also offers x-ray and lab services on an outpatient basis, based on physician referral.
“There are 26 stoplights between here and the nearest emergency facility in Lexington,” said Dan Andrews, MBA, RN, Emergency Department and Operations Manager for Saint Joseph Jessamine. "We’re providing top quality care, closer to home for our patients, and in an urgent situation, the time saved can really make a difference.”
Saint Joseph Jessamine treats roughly 95 percent of patients in-house without referring them to other facilities. Those patients needing a more intensive level of care, including Level 1 Trauma care, are transferred to facilities in nearby Lexington, Ky.
The facility will celebrate this milestone with a family-friendly event on Monday, November 12 from 4:30 – 7:00 pm.
