Our Lady of Peace to Host Free Seminar Series for Parents in Oldham County
Louisville, Ky.—The Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace, part of KentuckyOne Health, will host Peace for Parents – Oldham County, a series of free seminars to help guide parents with school-age children through topics that while common can be tricky to navigate.
Peace for Parents is a seminar series that has been held at various Louisville locations the past two years. This winter, the program will expand to Oldham County in an effort to accommodate even more parents, teachers and counselors.
Peace for Parents – Oldham County will kick off on Tuesday, November 27 at Buckner Alternative School with a seminar on how to talk to kids about alcohol and drugs, from 6-7 p.m. The program will be hosted by Henry Fuqua, CADC, and include an interactive discussion about strategies to assist parents and kids in discussing alcohol and drug experimentation, use and abuse. There will be a question and answer period for “ask the professional” dialogue.
Interested individuals are encouraged to register in advance. Registration is free and can be done by calling (502) 214-0522. Bucker Alternative School is located at 1350 North Hwy 393, LaGrange, Ky.
“Parents face a variety of challenges throughout the life of their child, and societal pressures are greater than ever before,” said Jennifer Nolan, president and CEO, Our Lady of Peace. “We hope the Peace for Parents series will help educate parents and guide them through some common challenges. The program has seen continued growth. We knew it was a valuable service that we should continue to provide for our community and expand to include an even larger population.”
More information on the program is available by calling the Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace at 502) 479-4495.
