Shelbyville, KY (Sept. 18, 2013) – Cancer patients will now be able to receive care closer to home at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, part of KentuckyOne Health.  The facility began offering oncology services on Monday, Sept. 16.

Oncology clinical services are being provided in partnership with Cancer and Blood Specialists, which just opened its first Shelbyville office location at 700 Hospital Drive, Suite 201, across from the JHS campus.

Medical oncologist Khuda Dad Khan, M.D., and M. Itaf Khan, M.D.,will see patients for hematology and oncology consultations on Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon at the new Cancer and Blood Specialists office. Patients must be referred by a primary care physician or other specialist. Infusions and chemotherapy treatments will be offered in the hospital on Mondays and Fridays as well.

A variety of infusion services will be offered initially, with services to be expanded as patient demand increases.

“I am pleased to be able to offer my expertise to patients in Shelby County through our new clinic,” said Dr. Khan. “There is no need for patients to drive to Louisville for the most basic of hematology and oncology treatments when KentuckyOne has a facility right here in Shelbyville.”
