Educational Loan Application Process

Are you interested in the Educational Loan Programs offered by KentuckyOne Health Louisville Area. We are excited to have the opportunity to assist you in your desire to become a health care professional.

We have education loans available for the following health care careers:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Advance Degree (ASN to BSN; Current Team Members Only)
  • Cat Scan (CT)
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
  • Medical Technologist
  • MRI
  • Occupational Therapy (OT)*
  • Pharmacy
  • Physical Therapy (PT)*
  • Respiratory Therapy 

*Therapy applications accepted annually beginning February 15 to March 15 for April Selection Committee

Our requirements are as follows:

  • ACT - 18 or greater, SAT – 900 or greater (if taken in past 5 years).
  • Any college attending for a nursing degree (ASN or BSN only) must meet the following accreditation requirement: ASN accreditation requirement NLNAC= National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission; BSN accreditation requirement CCNE = Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 from most recent college institution.
  • Must be admitted into the program before submitting an application.
  • We do not accept applications in any discipline if student is in (or entering) final semester, quarter, or session.
  • Current team members need to be discipline free at the written level for 12 months

The Educational Loan Program offers between $6,000 and $24,000 depending on your program of study and college attending. For every $6,000 received, you will have a one year full time work commitment after graduation. This money is taxable upon graduation. You do not have to be a current team member (employee) to apply for this program.

2. High School Transcripts (if attended in the past 5 years)
3. Past College Transcripts (if applicable)
4. Current College Transcripts
5. ACT/SAT Scores (if applicable)
6. Two Letters of Professional Reference (NOT to include current manager if JHSMH employee)
7. Typed Narrative (** see below)
8. Personal Resume
9. If you are a current JHSMH team member, have your manager fill out the Recommendation Form and return in a sealed envelope.

Important things to know when preparing your educational loan application packet:

  • All transcripts need to be included in the packet. It is acceptable to have a school copy (unsealed), however a black/white copy is not acceptable.
  • ACT/SAT scores may be black/white copies (or may be included on your high school transcripts).
  • High school transcripts are to be included in the packet if you have attended in the past 5 years.

Instructions for the Typed Narrative

** The typed narrative needs to be 1-2 pages. You may include any of the following:

  • Describe your experiences and activities since graduating high school or completion of a GED.
  • What have you accomplished that has given you the greatest satisfaction?
  • What do you most enjoy doing in your leisure time?
  • Why did you choose this profession?
  • How do you envision your contribution to the profession?
  • What is your ideal job/setting as a new graduate?


The Selection Process

Educational Loan applications accepted January through October*.  Your application will be reviewed upon receipt. If you do not meet the criteria or failed to include any items, you will receive notification within 2 weeks. If packet is complete, and all minimum requirements are met, a Human Resources recruiter will contact you for an interview. If selected to move forward in the interview process, a second interview will be scheduled to meet with the selection committee, which meets the 3rd Friday of each month (January thru October*).  Within 1 week of the committee meeting, you will be notified regarding the committee’s decision.

* Not applicable to PT, OT and SLP
