Stroke Care Nursing

Our stroke team is made up of medical and nursing experts who provide advanced imaging technology and treatment options, which give patients the best chance for survival and recovery.

Made up of board-certified neurologists, specially trained nurses, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, rehab specialists and neurointerventional radiologists trained in coiling, retrieval and diagnostics, this specialized team is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Jewish Hospital and Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospitals are also part of an elite group of national accredited JCAHO Certified Primary Stroke Centers .

To be certified as a Primary Stroke Center, a hospital must clearly show that it has the expertise and technological resources to quickly diagnose and treat any type of stroke within one hour of arrival. Speed is critical. For the best outcomes, most stroke patients must be treated within three hours after a stroke has occurred.

A Stroke Rehab Program is also available through Frazier Rehabilitation Institute. The program is a Commission on Accreditation for Rehab Facilities (CARF) Accredited facility and is designed to meet the special needs of patients who have suffered a stroke or who have neurologic disorders.
