Pulmonary Rehab

Nearly 30 million people suffer from chronic lung ailments resulting in weakness, shortness of breath and exhaustion that severely limit a person’s ability to enjoy an active lifestyle. Frazier Rehab Institute’s Pulmonary Rehab Program serves patients with chronic bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, thoracic surgery, post-polio syndrome and other disorders that compromise respiratory function.

Our Pulmonary Rehab mission for all programs is to restore the patient to the highest possible level of independent function. This is accomplished through an individually tailored, multidisciplinary program formulated on accurate diagnosis, exercise therapy, psychosocial support, and education. The goal is to assist patients in realizing functional independence, productivity, social adjustment, and improve their self-esteem.

What is Pulmonary Rehab?

Pulmonary Rehab is a multi-disciplinary program that combines individualized exercise, education and medical care to minimize symptoms and complications of chronic lung disease. The program is designed to help patients improve their strength, endurance, and breathing efficiency.

Features

Pulmonary nurses and respiratory therapists coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary rehab team and facilitate achievement of the treatment goals.

Program components include:

  • Phase I – An inpatient program for patients who are medically stable, but unable to function independently at home
  • Phase II – Outpatient treatment program patients attend three days per week for 4-10 weeks
  • Phase III – Following Phase II, an outpatient program designed to maintain strength and endurance by exercising in the controlled setting of Frazier’s pulmonary rehab gym.

Our program has National Certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
